Bookbinding

Bookbinding produces a finished book after it has been printed. The bookbinding processes improve the quality, durability and appearance of the book. Bookbinding can also add to the quality of the print and makes the printed work look like a finished book.

What forms bookbinding?

Laminating:

We offer three different types of lamination: matt, gloss or soft touch.

The laminate that covers the book is a very thin and transparent film that gives the cover extra resistance to wear and moisture and makes the book pleasant to the touch.

  • Matt is the most popular type of laminate – it gives the book cover an appealing matt finish.

  • Gloss laminate will give a glossy finish to the book cover. It will reflect light and create a brighter colour impression.

  • Soft touch laminate is a special textured coating that will make the book cover velvety soft.

All classic book covers are laminated, you just have to choose which one is more suitable for your book. Matt and gloss laminates already come with the standard print price, but if you want a soft touch laminate, this should be selected as a separate parameter.

White print – Special white and black printing on special fabric-type paper. This print will highlight the text or cover design details of the book, making it particularly visually appealing. Possible cover colours: grey, black, dark red, blue, green.

Foil stamping – a hot stamping process in which foil is transferred onto the book cover material. The foil can be used to highlight different elements of the cover design – drawing details, book title, author, etc. The effect of this process is very pronounced and shimmering. Gold and silver foils are the most popular, but a variety of other colours are also available.

Congreve – the embossing of individual cover elements, which will be both visible and tangible. It is possible to emboss inwards (in depth) or to emboss outwards. This method can be used to highlight a book title, author, logo, drawing, etc.

UV varnishing – coating with a particularly glossy and thick varnish. The UV varnish can be applied to the entire cover area or to individual design elements. For example, if the title of a book is covered, it will stand out against the background of the cover, forming a slight emboss and reflecting light.

Cover materials – a choice of cover materials are available for hardcover books.

Head and tail band – this is a narrow strip of fabric that makes an attractive connection between the book's page block and the spine of the cover. The head and tail band is commonly used for hardcover books and is located at both the top and the bottom of the book. It can be selected in different shades to match the design of the book; a white-coloured head and tall band will create a neutral and elegant look, while a contrasting-coloured head and tall band can be used to make the book stand out by matching the overall design of the book.

Bookmark – when you publish your book, it is also possible to add a fabric bookmark which is incorporated into the book during the production process. The bookmark, like the head and tall band, can be selected in different colours. It is also possible to order paper/cardboard bookmarks separately to match the design of the book.

Sealing of each copy – this is done using the vacuum sealing method. Each book is wrapped with a film that will protect the book during transport, and every reader will be assured that they have received their book brand new and unused.
